Anastasia Davis

Anastasia Davis is an associate in the Washington, DC office of BuckleySandler LLP. Ms. Davis represents financial services industry clients in a wide range of litigation matters, including government enforcement actions, internal investigations, class actions, and private litigation in state and federal courts, with a particular focus in the area of securities. Ms. Davis has represented financial institutions in investigations, examinations and litigation initiated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, United States Department of Justice, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, state banking commissions and state attorneys general. She has also advised corporate and individual clients regarding dispute resolution, regulatory and compliance issues. In addition, Ms. Davis has represented corporate clients in venture capital and hedge fund formation, structuring private financings, public filings, business formation, recapitalizations/reorganizations and various other transactions.

Ms. Davis serves on the Firm’s Pro Bono Committee and contributes regularly to the Firm’s weekly newsletter, Infobytes.

Prior to joining BuckleySandler, Ms. Davis served as Associate Counsel for Merrill Lynch International Bank’s Global Private Client Group in London. At Merrill Lynch, she negotiated with fund managers, drafted fund distribution agreements, advised management on Firm policy in six global regions and liaised with US and UK regulators on behalf of the Bank. Ms. Davis also worked for several years as a commercial litigator in private practice in Miami, Florida.

Ms. Davis began developing her securities law experience before graduating from law school while working for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement as a Certified Legal Intern. Prior to law school, Ms. Davis was the broker-owner of a real estate company in Florida and remains an actively licensed real estate broker in Florida and Virginia.

Ms. Davis received a LL.M. in Securities & Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2004. Her master’s thesis was entitled “Speculating on Hedge Fund Regulation.” She received her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center in 2001 (cum laude). While attending law school, Ms. Davis was President of the student chapter of the American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA). She earned her B.A. from the University of South Alabama in 1995 (cum laude) and received the Scholastic Excellence Award in political science.
