Benjamin P. Saul, Counsel at BuckleySandler LLP, represents corporate and individual clients in administrative enforcement and criminal matters, private civil and class action litigation and, commonly, in parallel proceedings involving private litigants and federal and state enforcement authorities. He also conducts corporate internal investigations and advises clients on compliance issues and programs.

Mr. Saul’s matters have concerned a broad range of consumer finance issues, including lending, servicing, and securitization practices as well as credit reporting and consumer privacy.  He also has advised clients on white collar criminal matters, including money laundering and mortgage fraud, as well as securities, corporate fiduciary duty, antitrust, tort, and contract issues.  Recently, Mr. Saul has developed deep experience in investigations and litigation related to the liquidation of failed financial institutions.

Mr. Saul often represents clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, federal and state banking regulatory agencies, and state enforcement authorities. He handles commercial disputes as well as complex civil and class action litigation in federal and state courts nationwide. 

In addition, Mr. Saul frequently lectures and publishes on litigation and enforcement trends, risk management strategies, responding to government investigations, and similar topics of interest to clients.  He also is a recognized expert on the attorney-client privilege and often conducts workshops for clients on privilege issues.

Prior to joining BuckleySandler LLP at its inception, Mr. Saul was a litigator at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. From 2002-2003, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable John M. Steadman (Court of Appeals, District of Columbia), and, from 1997-1999, he worked as an Economic Analyst at the investment firm Loomis, Sayles & Co., L.P. 

Mr. Saul received his J.D. from American University in 2002 (magna cum laude), where he was a Karl Scholar, Mussey-Gillett Fellow, Editor of American University Law Review and President of the Moot Court Board. He received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 (with Honors).
