Robert E. Cook is Of Counsel in the Washington, DC, office of BuckleySandler LLP. Mr. Cook has had a distinguished, 36-year career in fair lending and financial services regulatory and compliance matters in the private sector, bank regulatory agencies, and the Department of Justice. Most recently, from 2006 to 2008, Bob served as Executive Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Countrywide Financial Corporation, handling fair lending, examination and investigation matters.
For the preceding 11 years, Mr. Cook served as Special Counsel, Federal Reserve Board on fair lending, consumer compliance and enforcement matters with respect to examinations, merger and expansion applications and other matters. He joined the Federal Reserve after, among other experience, three years on Capitol Hill, two years at the FDIC and six years in the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice.
Mr. Cook’s experience in both the regulatory agencies and at a major financial institution provides clients with a valuable perspective and insight, and his breadth of experience provides valuable strategic and compliance counsel to BuckleySandler’s financial institution clients.
Bob received his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1971 and his B.A. from Case Western Reserve University in 1965.
