Simone Manigo-Truell dos Santos is an associate in the Washington, DC, office of BuckleySandler LLP. Ms. dos Santos represents financial services industry clients in a wide range of litigation matters, including class actions, internal investigations, and government enforcement actions.
Prior to joining BuckleySandler, Ms. dos Santos founded and served as the Executive Director and General Counsel of Levantamos: The Center for Afro-Brazilian – American Cooperation , a U.S. based non-profit focused on fostering exchanges and providing financial and technical assistance to grassroots organizations in Brazil.
Prior to her time with Levantamos, Ms. dos Santos was an associate at Covington & Burling for four years handling a variety of litigation and insurance matters. Ms. dos Santos also worked on a variety of Pro Bono matters, including a six month rotation as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the Abuse and Neglect Section of the Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia.
Following law school, Ms. dos Santos clerked for the Honorable James R. Spencer of the of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Ms. dos Santos received her J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law in 1999, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a Human Rights Fellow. She received a B.S. from Georgetown University 's School of Foreign Service in 1993. Ms. dos Santos is fluent in Portuguese and proficient in French.
