Victoria Holstein-Childress is an associate in the Washington, DC, office of BuckleySandler LLP. Ms. Holstein-Childress represents individuals and corporations, including insurers, banks, mortgage lenders, and other financial services institutions, in government enforcement, civil, criminal, and congressional investigations and in complex civil litigation before state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the United States. Ms. Holstein-Childress’ recent representations have included defending a major insurer in multiple class actions and related litigation stemming from Hurricane Katrina, advising major mortgage lenders and servicers in subprime-related matters including class action, enforcement, and regulatory proceedings, and pursuing a multi-million dollar indemnification claim on behalf of a major bank. Often, Ms. Holstein-Childress handles matters involving concurrent government and civil litigation, congressional investigations, and/or multiple class actions.

Ms. Holstein-Childress has published a number of articles on subjects including arbitration, insurance law, federal jurisdiction, administrative estoppel, and complex settlement issues, and co-authored Mortgage Servicing Enforcement and Litigation: The Second Wave (with Andrew L. Sandler), presented at the Mortgage Bankers Association NonPrime Lending and Alternative Products Conference, May 2006.

Prior to joining BuckleySandler, Ms. Holstein-Childress was a litigation associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. From 2003 to 2004, Ms. Holstein-Childress served as a law clerk to the Hon. Carl E. Stewart, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Ms. Holstein-Childress received her J.D. from Tulane Law School, with Honors, in 2002, where she served as Articles Editor of the Tulane Law Review, and her A.B. from Brown University in 1992.
