Biography

Jay Laifman is a Counsel in the Los Angeles office of BuckleySandler LLP. Mr. Laifman’s practice focuses on representing residential and commercial lenders in regulatory and compliance matters with an emphasis on the financial reform laws stemming from the Dodd-Frank Act. He also offers corporate advice to public and private businesses in the areas of joint ventures, contracts, real estate, and IP issues.

Prior to joining BuckleySandler, Mr. Laifman served as General Counsel of Reading International, Inc. Prior to that, Mr. Laifman was Executive Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Countrywide Home Loans, Inc. where he worked for eleven years.

Mr. Laifman received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1988, where he served as the Chief Managing Editor for the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review. He received a B.A. from University of California, Santa Cruz in 1985.
