Surviving Debt Cancellation and Debt Supervision Agreements
Published by ABA Bank Compliance in July/August 2003.
Author(s): Benjamin B. Klubes.
OCC regulations setting forth standards for the sale of Debt Cancellation Contracts (DCC) and Debt Suspension Agreements (DSA) offer the opportunity to provide beneficial and profitable products to customers. In doing so, however, banks must pay close attention to a variety of compliance issues to ensure proper development, sale, and maintenance of these products. Following a brief overview of DCC and DSA products, the authors outline the steps a lender must take in order to maintain compliance.
