In the wake of the subprime meltdown, borrowers will rely increasingly on credit cards as access to mortgage credit continues to tighten.  This increased dependence will surely lead to a default crisis, thus leaving lenders vulnerable to government enforcement action.  The authors discuss the steps prudent issuers should take in order to mitigate their risk.
